Thematic Activities Interaction with locals, Academically focused, Outdoor activities

Situated between the ocean and the mountains, the University of British Columbia (UBC) has one of the most beautiful campuses in North America. Explore participants at UBC learn and practise language skills in an inclusive environment with a focus on oral fluency, collaborative learning and student centered teaching. Current themes in local and global contexts drive teaching and learning throughout the course. The classes focus on the teaching of language skills and the workshops/project classes provide opportunities for practising English through project-based learning. The program also includes a sociocultural component, which offers opportunities to use English outside the classroom and further build confidence and fluency. The Explore program at UBC is a unique opportunity to discover the west coast and make friendships that will last a lifetime! “Explore” with us at UBC!

Example activities:

  • Daily lunch hour activities with Cultural Assistants
  • Day hikes on the North Shore and beach days
  • Day trips to attractions along the Sea To Sky Highway (through our external partner)

What makes our program special and unique?

  • Classes are taught by highly qualified and experienced English language instructors.
  • There are many opportunities to meet international and local students.
  • The UBC campus and its beautiful location offer many educational and recreational activities.
