The University of Victoria online summer program is designed for those who are not able to travel this summer but who want to improve their English and have a cultural experience. Join other learners from Canada and overseas online from July 4–August 5, 2022. The program offers a combination of asynchronous (must be completed daily but according to your own schedule) and synchronous (real time) activities each week.
What makes our program special and unique?
English synchronous classes will be held from 5–6 p.m. PDT for the first four weeks and from 5–6:40 p.m. for the final week. Asynchronous activities include watching lecture videos, participating in class forums, completing learning tasks, and recording short dialogues. Classes focus on improving all skills: listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing. Sociocultural activities will include both synchronous and asynchronous events. Students will take virtual tours of local West Coast sites, learn about the Salish Sea and the local orca population, join a cooking class, enjoy discussions on topics of interest, and more. Sessions will be held Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:30–3:30 p.m. PDT and Mondays 1:30–3:30 p.m. and 4–6 p.m. PDT.
