Situated between the ocean and the mountains, the University of British Columbia (UBC) has one of the most beautiful campuses in North America. Explore is an integrated skills program (speaking, listening, reading and writing) with a dominant component dedicated to speaking fluency and accuracy. In an inclusive environment, students learn and practice language (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, etc.) with a focus on collaborative learning and student engagement. Current issues in local and global contexts drive communication throughout the course. The classes focus on the teaching of language skills and the workshops provide opportunities for practicing English through interactive activities. The program also includes a socio-cultural component which offers opportunities to practice English outside the classroom. The Explore program at UBC is a unique opportunity to discover the west coast and make friendships that will last a lifetime!
Example activities:
• Trip to Whistler
• Day hike to Lynn Canyon
• Beach day
